Make Your Own Havaianas 2012

July 4, 2012

I didn’t want my Summer break to be all fun and games so I got a job. That’s right, an actual opportunity to hit pause on bumming around and just be productive. Even though Make Your Own Havaianas was just a week long event, it was a great learning experience for me.

For those of you who haven’t heard of Make Your Own Havaianas, it is an annual event held at Rockwell Tent where customers can customize their very own pair of Havaianas. sounds awesome, right? Well if you missed this year’s event, there’s always next year!

There are 3 posts an intern can be assigned to – greeter, rover, assembler. I was assigned to be a rover but I sometimes take on the role of an assembler. A rover’s job is to assist the costumer in deciding on the design of their pair of Havaianas while the assembler puts the pair together. My fellow rovers were Yuki and Den.

Den and I pointing people in the right direction. Also, because of Den’s gorgeous face she won the Havaianas Fresh Face Award. Congratulations, love!

The MYOH process is easy. First pick a sole style and color you like

then pick the strap to match.

If you can’t decide on a design, you can use the color wheels available in the selection areas.

MYOH offers limited edition pins that can be attached to the flip flops so pick your favorites to add even more uniqueness to your pair. Once you’re set on the design of your pair of Havaianas, have it made by an assembler.

Voila! Your very own pair of custom made Havaianas. Solen and her guy are all smiles with their new pair of Havaianas.

This year’s packaging in celebration of Havaianas’ 50th year.

My MYOH experience was a blast! I learned a lot, met a ton of great people and brushed up on my marketing skills. A special shout out to the Boy Band – Eric, Mauro, Cy, Teo, and Martin – for teaching Den and I the ropes of the Make Your Own Havaianas event. We couldn’t have survived without you. See you guys next year!
