I am a loyal fan of the Food Network so anything they say about food is law. These FLOUR Sticky Buns were once featured on the Unique Sweets TV show and from the moment I saw those layers of succulent dough overflowing with sugary goodness I just knew I just had to have them. As soon as I got over my jetlag phase, I went straight to Boston’s South End for the sweetest breakfast of my life. This was definitely one of the highlights of my trip or should I say sugar-highlights?
FLOUR is a bakery and cafe owned by the renowned Pastry Chef, Joanne Chang. They sell everything from loaves of bread to multi layer cakes and the best part is that all of their pastries are baked fresh daily.
I wanted to try everything on display but I ended up with my top 2 picks–Oreo and, of course, Sticky Buns.
Oreo 2 (w/o nuts)
Flour’s take on America’s favorite cookie. It’s made out of creamy vanilla filling sandwiched between two dark chocolate cookies. This cookie tastes so amazing–it’s even better than the actual Oreo cookie it was based on. The dark chocolate cookies are perfection–crisp on the outside but fudgy on the inside. The vanilla filling is so smooth and creamy and it’s not overly sweet. I love desserts that have a balanced taste of sweetness.

These world renowned sticky buns are the reason I got out of bed that day. This is, by far, the best sticky buns I have ever tasted in my life. It’s lightyears better than the Cinnabon buns that I enjoyed since I was a child. The dough is perfectly fluffy and moist, covered in luscious dark, sticky caramel and toasted pecans. The combination of flavors and various textures makes for the most perfect pastry. It’s one of those simple pleasures that you won’t ever forget.
The next time you travel to the U.S. or if you already live there, have breakfast or brunch or both at Flour and take your tastebuds on an amazing adventure. For more information on Flour, visit their official website.
