So I tried my hand at making accessories and this is how it went.
Yuki laid out her extensive supply of stretchable fabric and this is what I used for this project. I was immediately taken by the bright colored hues! I chose purple, pink, and gray as the palette for my layered necklace.
The necklace is comprised of 6 layers – 4 braids, 1 strip, and 1 twirled piece – of varying sizes, textures, and color combinations. I started out by cutting the fabric into strips. After that, I found myself braiding fabric endlessly. Braiding isn’t as easy as it looks, I think this is the first time I had a hard time braiding anything but, in the end, it was all worth it.
I used loose & tight braids and different color combinations to add variety to the necklace. On top of the braided layers, I added a simple strip of fabric and a twirled layer. The twirled layer was achieved by simply twisting two strips of fabric together.
Voila! a gorgeous 3 color combination layered necklace made from recycled fabric. I have yet to figure out an easier way to put all the layers together.
Special thanks to Yuki for helping me out and to Tara and Andrea as well for keeping us company. I had such a blast with you girls!
